Houston (AFP) – Three boys aged 11, 12 and 16 -- dubbed the "Little Rascals" by the FBI -- have been arrested for allegedly robbing a Texas bank.

The FBI's Houston office said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that the three boys had been charged with "robbery by threat."

The boys, who were not identified because they are juveniles, were taken into custody on Tuesday.

The FBI had released a photo of the pint-sized suspects following their March 14 bank robbery, adding a caption that read "believe it or not, they just robbed the Wells Fargo."

Local TV station KTRK quoted the Harris County Sheriff's Office as saying the kids had passed a "threatening note" to a bank teller and fled on foot with an unspecified amount of cash.

It said two of the boys -- who don't appear to have tried to wear masks or otherwise conceal their identities during the robbery -- were identified to the authorities by their parents.
